Group / Project Name: Break a leg
Module: Multimedia Group Project
Our project is a game device that combines the physical and the virtual to raise awareness of the need for environmental protection. People stand in front of the projection and use the sound sensor to control the direction of throwing garbage, and the purpose is to make the garbage fall into the trash can accurately.
This project is a game about urban garbage. The participant stands in front of the screen and controls the distance of the throw with the loudness of their voice. When the user misses the bin, the garbage falls into the city and accumulates. The game is lost when repeated misses fill half of the sky resulting in an earthquake, and the screen going dark. When the user successfully tosses the garbage into the bin, the garbage in the city becomes less, the sky clears, and the screen becomes brighter. The game is won when all the garbage disappears from the city. The project combines the virtual and physical environment to control the garbage throwing to raise awareness that garbage should be thrown into the dustbin. The concept is derived from the current social situation in urban areas where littering is a problem. We hope that the game makes people aware of the seriousness of the problem and contributes to forming the habit of throwing garbage into the trash can. The software technologies used are unity and Processing, and the hardware technologies include voice control devices and projection devices.
